It is always a pleasure to work with Abi Ishola of Beyond Classically Beautiful. We first met last summer when she stopped me coming out of the subway station to take my picture for street style. After that, she contacted me months later and invited me to be a part of a beautiful series called “Beyond Classically Beautiful” in response to the NY Times article that stated Viola Davis was “less classically beautiful” than other black, female Hollywood celebrities. That blog post garnered attention from various media outlets, including Elle, Huffington Post, Fashion Bomb Daily, and POPSUGAR among others. And now, we have teamed up again and this time, I am modeling awesome vintage pieces from a boutique in my neighborhood, Bedstuy, called ‘Shirley & Alice.’
Khalilah Beavers, celebrity stylist (i.e. Carmelo Anthony), created 5 awesome looks for me from product in her store. I wanted every single outfit by the time she was done as this girl has a true eye for style. She put together great combos that I would have never dreamt of and layered with great fall coats, jackets and vests to show a few cool outfits for the season.
