The gazebo and landing at the bottom of the stairwell is where my host mother’s wedding took place <3

The Botanical Garden

Here is my first travel post, post-Nikon (click to catch up on what happened). I’m still not over it but first thing tomorrow I will look into vendors in Spain to replace it.

Moving on however, I went with my host mother, Olga, and the daughter, Ona, to the botanical garden in Blanes: El Jardín Botánico Marimurtra. Anytime you throw me in a garden or scenic environment of any kind, you can guarantee I’m going to enjoy it to the fullest. As with any environment surrounded by nature it pretty much goes without saying that there were breathtaking views. Hopefully, my pictures do it justice.

But I think the more interesting story of the trip is the fact that Olga and her husband were married in this garden. Not only were they married here, they were the first ones to ever do it! Can you say trend-setters? Olga even told me that they had to work hard to convince the management of the garden to allow a wedding ceremony there. They even had to finally agree that for each guest at the wedding, they would pay the cost of what that entrance fee would be as if that person were visiting the botanical garden (on top of whatever other venue costs they were already dealing with). Crazy! But a very cool and sweet story.

Although I, of course, did not know Olga or her husband when they got married, I thought it was so special that I had the chance to come to the place where my host ‘mother’ and ‘father’ were wed. But, maybe, I am just a super sentimental hopeless romantic…

P.S. All photos were taken with iPhone 6s and edited with VSCO. Would love your feedback on how the iPhone photos are holding up on the blog so far. Let me know what you think!
