Bringing Color to Spring at Brooklyn Bridge Park

With NYC being 80 degrees one day and grey and dreary the next, I wanted to bring some color to the season formerly known as spring. So in doing a bright and light shoot at Brooklyn Bridge Park with photographer Tee Tyson, or TyVisionary, I decided to explode my look with fun, bold colors.

I grabbed just about any and every punchy colored item in my wardrobe and started mixing together layers. It is still spring after all so layers still apply. Lately, my style has skewed more minimal but I’ve always appreciated a good, clean colorful look. Ask any of my friends in high school and even early on in college- I used to live in color. Especially pop color accessories. I’ll spare you the embarrassing Facebook pics though.

Instead, let’s fast-forward to the layers of orange, pink, turquoise and green that I loaded on for this shoot. I knew I wanted to wear my new pink suit and potentially the cropped orange sweatshirt from Zara. The two colors reminded me of strawberry and mango sorbet which made me think of a cool spring day. From there, I added the lime green coat from my Aunt’s beautifully curated vintage selection at Antique Emporium at Mobile Auction House. Because, duh. I hear they ship nationwide so be sure to keep up with the store’s unique goods on Instagram.

I’ve added on three bright colors already so I might as well push it I thought to myself. The blue pumps, which I’ve had for at least 5 years from a vintage shop in North Carolina, were the only choice that seemed right. And at the last minute, I decided on a dress from Beacon’s Closet, the same thrift store where I found this vintage sequin number.

Finally, I topped it off with a couple of accessories and a bright lip. A golden colored scarf tied turban style to protect from the wind and chandelier earrings for impact. And I was off to Brooklyn Bridge Park to bring some color into spring.
